the client: Support Ho(s)e Collective
the project brief: I was asked to design a set of four guides about centering sex workers, each tailored to a different audience: health professionals, media professionals, letter writing organizers, and academics. The guides needed to be visually distinct while looking like a cohesive series.
my approach: I created a pattern of objects for each guide related to their specific content and repeated some objects on each guide for cohesion. I included the Support Ho(s)e iconic knife-heeled stiletto and an umbrella (a nod to the red umbrella symbol for sex worker organizing) as consistent symbols across all four guides. More specific symbols are unique to their guide like gloves and masks for the health professionals guide.
Below are examples of pages from inside the guides. I used a crumpled and ripped paper motif throughout to highlight sections and important terms. I was thinking of surreptitiously writing about taboo topics and the wisdom contained in passed notes.
