the client: Survived & Punished / Support Ho(s)e Collective
the project: I was commissioned to design the layout and cover for Supporting Sex Workers & Survivors: Lessons for Defense Campaigns, a political education resource for people who want to learn more about centering sex workers in their advocacy to free incarcerated survivors.
The toolkit writers wanted a design that led with color, felt approachable, and featured the red illustrations of one of their collective members. Since the toolkit will mostly be shared digitally I decided to embrace the request to “lead with color” using jewel tones and the red from the illustrations I was provided.
There is so much wisdom and analysis in this toolkit I wanted to make sure to provide visual breaks with pull quote balloons and highlighted sections throughout the text so readers would not feel overwhelmed with blocks of information.
